Sherri Shepherd Named YAI Spokesperson

The YAI Network has a new spokesperson! Sherri Shepherd, an Emmy® Award-winning co-host of ABC-TV’s “The View,” has enthusiastically agreed to help spread the YAI Network’s mission to a wider audience. She is eager to help us spread public awareness about the needs and abilities of people with developmental disabilities.

“YAI is a place where they care, they love, they nurture and they want to keep doing it,” Sherri said.

Sherri’s new book, “Permission Slips: A Woman’s Guide to Giving Herself a Break,” comes out on Oct. 5, the same day her new show “Sherri” premiers on the Lifetime TV. We are honored that she will be spreading the word about our goals and mission, as well as the importance of the services we provide. Sherri will also be a guest speaker at this year’s 52nd Annual Benefit for Hope Gala, on Nov. 18, 2009.

As our spokesperson, Sherri has also spread the word to her friends: At this year’s Gala, our Master of Ceremonies will be Whoopi Goldberg, the moderator of “The View.” Whoopi is one of an elite group of actors who have won Oscar, Tony, Emmy and Grammy awards. This year’s Gala promises to be the biggest yet, with Henry Schein, Inc. and Frank Crystal and Company being honored for their commitment to supporting the work of the YAI Network. Dr. Joel M. Levy will also be recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
